About·the writer
Ian Mullane has worked in technology for over thirty years, more than twenty-five of them in artificial intelligence. He spent a decade as an owner-operator, founding a fitness business and applying technology to run it. He was not a fitness person who learned technology. He was a technologist who happened to end up running a fitness organisation, and that is what brought him into this sector.
In addition to his day job, he is a board member at GymNation, recognised as one of the most technologically advanced operators in the world, which recently secured a $100 million investment from HPS Investment Partners, part of BlackRock, to support its expansion. He also sits on the board of Activity Alliance, the national body for disabled people in sport and physical activity in England.
The Operator Letter is written from the perspective of a fellow operator. Three decades in technology, more than twenty-five of them in artificial intelligence, and a decade of running a fitness business. It exists because of a passion for AI and a desire to share that experience and knowledge with a wider audience, so that more of the sector can engage with what is and will be one of the most important technological changes of our lifetime.
